About Kauswagan

Kauswagan is a coastal municipality in the province of Lanao del Norte.

The municipality has a land area of 60.37 square kilometers or 23.31 square miles which constitutes 1.80% of Lanao del Norte's total area. Its population as determined by the 2020 Census was 24,193. This represented 3.35% of the total population of Lanao del Norte province, or 0.48% of the overall population of the Northern Mindanao region. Based on these figures, the population density is computed at 401 inhabitants per square kilometer or 1,038 inhabitants per square mile.

Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte, is known for its remarkable transformation from a conflict-ridden area to a progressive municipality, exemplified by the "From Arms to Farms" program that addressed poverty and hunger as root causes of conflict. This program led to a global award, and Kauswagan is now the number one municipality for tax collection efficiency in the country and is considered a non-corrupted municipality.

Highest tax collection efficiency: It is the number one municipality in the country for the efficiency of its tax collection, which has grown significantly from approximately (600,000) pesos in 2010 to over (400) million pesos today.
